The Life of a Christian: A Look at First and Second Peter

The life of a Christian holds great hope and perfect strength is available to us throughout all of life’s trials. Still Christians want to know what God desires from us and how we can serve Him. What exactly is expected of a Christian by God?   Over the last week the Good Morning Girls have been reading and studying through 1st and 2nd Peter and I’m excited to share with you the truths that I discovered through God’s word this week!     Through God's mercy we're given a great hope!

My Thoughts on This Scripture ~

What a great hope we’re given because of God’s mercy and it is through the death and resurrection of Jesus that we have hope! Our inheritance in heaven is waiting for us in heaven and it isn’t going anywhere! God is keeping it by His power which works through our faith in salvation!     We will not be confused when we look to Jesus, who is our rock!

My Thoughts on This Scripture ~

Jesus is our rock and when we look to Him we will not be confused. We are called to follow Christ’s example and if we live life following His example, life will not be confusing. Life tends to overwhelm and (at times) confuse us, but if we would take our eyes off of ourselves or the situation and look to Jesus for His example all confusion would disappear.     Directions for a Christian's life are found in God's word.

My Thoughts on This Scripture ~

In this passage Christians receive directions for how we should act (or conduct) ourselves throughout life. We don’t have to wonder what God expects of us, He tells us! We all need to be focused on one thing (the Lord!), filled with compassion (care) for each other, love one another, and be kind and humble. We are not to respond in an evil manner like we may receive from others because we have been called by the Lord to live according to these directions. If we follow these directions, God tells us that there will be blessings that follow them. If we love life and want to see good days, then we must not speak evil or deceit, we must turn away from evil and pursue peace!     God's gifts come with direction.

My Thoughts on This Scripture ~

Any speaking or ministering we do must follow God’s direction and the gifts He’s given us uniquely. God will be glorified when we fulfill the callings He’s placed on our lives. All praise is due to Him forever.   We are not alone in our struggles.

My Thoughts on This Scripture ~

When we are struggling in life it can seem as if no one cares or understands where we are or what we’re going through. Here we see that the devil goes around afflicting fellow believers with the same things we face!     Being a faithful and fruitful Christian requires following God's directions.

My Thoughts on This Scripture ~

As Christians we long to serve the Lord, to grow and be fruitful in our ministries. Here we’re given specific characteristics that we need to have in order to be fruitful Christians. This is where we must start to become more like Christ.   Christians must be alert to temptation and people trying to lead them away from God.

My Thoughts on This Scripture ~

We must be on the alert for those that will try to lead us away from God. We must always look to God’s word to ensure we follow the truth and not merely men’s words. God always has a way out of temptations, He will always provide a way of deliverance for His children. The Lord's coming as a thief in the night!

My Thoughts on This Scripture ~

We don’t know when the Lord will return, but when He does there won’t be anything left on earth. Nothing we have in this world nor things we do for ourselves in this world will remain or matter.   The life of a Christian doesn’t have to be confusing, overwhelming or solemn. We have a great hope AND we have directions! God doesn’t require us to live life guessing what He desires from us, He lays everything out in the Bible to teach, direct and comfort us. We are not on this Christian journey alone or without a map! We simply must pick up God’s word and find the direction for the path we’re on.
