I Must Be Crazy…

It’s been a long time since I’ve sat down to write. I’ve been tired and overwhelmed for a while, so I just took some time off. I got to fly back home to Texas for the first time in almost 5 years and see my family. It was such a blessing to see everyone, finally say goodbye to my grandfather 12 years late and spend time completely unplugged for 2 weeks. I thought I would come back refreshed and ready to take on the world like I normally do, but that is not the case. I’m still tired, but it’s because I must be crazy…

I have decided that I must be crazy...

See, when my husband and I decided to take on the new adventure with Misty Morning Cottages, I knew that I wanted to have a dog again because there will be times when he isn’t around. So, I decided that it would be a great idea to adopt a puppy from Texas and bring her home with me. I did just that and I love her, she’s precious, but I must be crazy…

I’ve never had a puppy before, I’ve always adopted a full grown dog from the humane society/pound. So, this puppy business is a new experience for me and it’s exhausting! Flying across country with 2 kids was tiring enough on the way down…add a puppy to the trip back and that is when I learned that I must be crazy. I’m finding it’s like having a newborn in the house again, up at 2:30 am to play and entertain, potty time every 1.5/2 hours to train her not to pee on my floors!

So, as I continue on this new journey of puppy training, would you pray that she learns quickly and that I get the sleep I need? I’m prone to getting sick when I don’t sleep enough and her middle of the night play time is not helpful in this area. I know that this too shall pass, but at the moment it’s exhausting. Any tips you have for training a puppy quickly would be greatly appreciated!

  1. I get sick with a lack of sleep too so I understand. We have a kitten that drives me crazy. I’ve never done the kitten/puppy thing either, always adopting older animals (usually 1-2yrs) from the shelter or free from the Uncle Henry’s. It’s an adventure, it’s it?
