God is a Planner…Just Like ME!!

Last week the Good Morning Girls started reading through the book of Leviticus. It isn’t really anyone’s favorite book, but since we’re on the journey to reading the entire Bible together, we had to read it sometime.

I LOVE the Old Testament and how it points me to Christ and all that He has done for me. It’s amazing just how many things His life and ultimately His death on the cross took away from me. Things that would have weighed me down, requirements that I’m sure I would have struggled to fulfill, so many things that I would have failed in doing properly each day.

As I was reading through Leviticus I realized something I had never really thought about before. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am an over the top, OCD planner. This year though I had to let it go.

God is a Planner...Just Like Me! - By Misty Leask

Before a new year unfolds I pray asking God to give me direction for the coming year, I ask for a word that I need to embrace and live out throughout the next 365 days. 2015’s word of the year is hard. It has required more of me than any year before.

Unplanned

As a wife, I love to plan date nights, special dinners, movie nights and more. On my motherhood journey I love to plan out our homeschool year entirely, fun activities, movie nights, etc. My blog posts were always planned at least 3 months in advance and I had an entire month written ahead of time.

My life on Jan. 1, 2015 change drastically. God had asked what I considered to be the impossible of me.

Would I answer the call?

I went from living life in a city, working as a VA and homeschooling my two blessings to running a family cottage rental business 3 hours north of my old home. Now, God was asking another thing of me. Something that I didn’t want to let go. Yet, I had no choice but to let go.

After all, didn’t I seek Him and ask for His direction for my 2015?

So, what does me letting go of being an OCD, over the top planner have to do with Leviticus?

God is a planner!

He wrote out what He wanted done, when He wanted it done and how He wanted it done! He wanted the people to know what He expected and required of them, His chosen people. God didn’t just let them figure things out on their own, He gave them directions!

Be still my heart! God and I have something unique in common! Something special to me…something He gave me a love for! I know this may seem small and silly to others, but to me it means the world!

As a daughter of the King of Kings, it is encouraging to find little things that I have in common with Him. It makes me feel special, it reminds me that He created me in His image and it is powerful!

  1. This is encouraging to me, because I have a tendency to be a bit obsessive with my list making. Thank you for helping us to see that we can turn this trait over to God, and like everything else He gets His hands on, it becomes a beautiful thing! Linking up with you today at Monday Musings.

    • Yes, it is so important to remember that while ensuring we stay on track is important, we must be at peace because God’s got this! 🙂 Blessings Michele!

  2. I love that God is a planner! I, too, have been on a journey of letting go of my control and allowing God to hold all my life’s plans. So hard! Yet, learning to trust His plan is not only growing my faith, but showing me His plans are better than what I could do on my own. Good luck in your journey!

  3. That is awesome! I am a bit of a planner too and drive my husband a bit bonkers. We were just talking about that this morning. I get over excited and then plan many, many months ahead of time. Good to know God loves planning 🙂

  4. Visiting from Faith & Fellowship link up! I enjoyed reading this perspective, I’m a planner too and sometimes it’s so hard to step back and let things just happen.

    • Yes, sometimes our planning gets in the way of God’s work. That’s hard to accept sometimes and even harder to change! 🙂 Blessings Candice!

  5. I love to plan also and love to be prepared. And yes God definitely is a planner but sometimes our plans get in the way of His. Sometimes our plans are not His and they should be. Our desires and plans should line up with His.

    Thanks for sharing!!

    • Yes, I’ve had that happen many times in my life. I’ve had to learn to wait on Him through some of the hardest times, but the blessings that followed cannot be compared!

  6. I love the way God guides us into seasons of planning, and guides us into seasons of being unplanned. I’m a planner by nature, too. But life is very full at the moment, and I find myself taking things one day at a time. I never would’ve thought I could survive this way, but by His grace and with Him by my side, “one day at a time” is working out just fine. 🙂 Thanks for linking up with us at Grace & Truth!

    • Oh yes, I understand! I NEVER would have wanted to live life by the day, but His grace still amazes me! It is with His strength alone that I am able to live life unplanned as He has called me to be in this season of life. Many blessings Jennifer!
