Faith in Our Homes

Faith is the most important step of belief for a Christian. It requires that we believe in that which we can not see.

What is Faith?

Hebrews 11:1  “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Without faith we would be prone to believe only that which we see. Therefore eliminating belief in God, heaven and salvation; even the wind requires belief without sight.

How Do We Exhibit Faith in Our Homes?

1. Remind your family that God gave you to each other. He chose each of you specifically to create a family.

~ He chose you to be their mom, and his wife.

~ God will give you all you need to teach and love all of them.

~ Don’t speak any negative words regarding God giving you a difficult family, children, etc.

2. Encourage your family that God is working in each of them, in His time. (Just as He is in you.)

~ Our timing is not God’s. Just because we don’t see improved obedience, patience, love, etc. when we want to doesn’t mean God isn’t at work in their lives and hearts.

~ Continue to pray for growth in them. God answers prayer.

~ Don’t say things like won’t you hurry up and learn already. God doesn’t use that tactic on us.

3. Choose to believe your family members words.

~ Don’t automatically assume your kids aren’t being truthful.

~ Don’t allow your thoughts (or words) to change what your spouse said to you. Take him at his word.

4. ~ Know that your family loves you, even if their actions or words don’t speak it.

~ We must remember that our human nature tends to base love on feelings, but that is not an accurate gauge.

~ In loving our family through their unloveliness we will strengthen our bond as we go through life together, as a family.

Faithful Encouragement for Your Heart

Have faith in your family. God has given them to you. He entrusted them to you.

Have faith in yourself. God will be there every step of the way. Allow God’s love to shine through you.
