I’ve always believed that it was important to pray for my children each day…even for their future spouses. Yet, in the last few years it has become apparent to me that I needed to become more intentional in praying for my children. I felt the need to pray for specific parts of their lives today and for their futures. I took a few steps to being more intentional, but this parenting journey is hard and I’m realizing now that the steps I’d taken previously just aren’t enough anymore.
As my children are getting older the issues we’re facing are getting bigger and require more time in prayer from me. Intentional mommy prayer time…time when my heart is crying out to my heavenly Father for divine direction in parenting the little blessings He’s given me…time in which God is able to lift me up, renew my strength and prepare me for the next step in my parenting journey.

It is a parent’s responsibility to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, to teach them to love the Lord with all their heart, mind and strength and prepare them to serve Him all the days of their lives. This is a high calling and one that requires a parent to be in tune with God at all times to ensure that you are keeping yourself as the parent and your child on the path that God has for you and them.
As I’m beginning this journey of having intentional mommy prayer time, I know there are a few key areas that I will be focusing on during my prayer time right away. As I progress through this journey though, I’m certain that God will lay other things on my heart along the way.
Having an intentional mommy prayer time is important to me because I want to make a difference in my children’s lives not only today, but in the future as well. Praying for my children is the best way to impact my children both now and when they’ve grown up.
So, a new part of my parenting journey begins.
Intentional mommy prayer time.
- Daily seeking the Lord’s direction for growth in me as a parent.0
- Daily bringing before the Lord areas that I need direction for training my child.
- Daily praying for my child’s faith, education and future.
Though the steps may seem small, they will be detailed. I created some worksheets (that you can download below) to keep track of my specific prayers, progress in the areas I’m specifically praying about and when/how the prayers were answered.
I desire that my children grow up to be great men and women of God and the first steps to that desire being answered is being a mother who prays intentionally.
Do you desire to pray for your children specifically? Are there issues you’re facing on your parenting journey that are just too big for you?
Join me in having an intentional mommy prayer time each day. A time where we’re praying specifically for problem areas in our children’s lives, seeking direction in training our children through these difficult moments and asking God to help us prepare them for their future and their future spouses.
We can make a difference in our children’s lives today and in the future. How do I know this for certain? Because God answers prayer.
