When you’re in the midst of an abusive relationship you wonder how there could be life after relational abuse. You think that there is no way that you could possibly live any kind of a “normal” life again.
I’m here to say that there is life after relational abuse. There is hope for the future.
It is true to say that things will not be the same after relational abuse. There is truth in the thought that it will be very hard to move beyond relational abuse. It will be hard to trust anyone in your life after relational abuse.
I’m here to tell you that the road will be very hard. It will require you to make the choice throughout each day to leave the past behind you.
It is true that the daily choices to leave the past behind will be hard and painful. The road will be like a mountain with rocks and boulders to climb.
I’m here to push you to the top of the mountain, because there you will no longer feel defeated. You will have conquered the painful past and pushed through in order to find life after relational abuse.
The past’s hold on you will not let go on it’s own.
I’m here to encourage you to push for the day you can wake up and your first thought isn’t of the abuse…that will be the best day of the rest of your life.
Life after relational abuse isn’t all sunshine and flowers, memories aren’t erased. It is the ability to truly live and not be stuck in the memories that is so freeing. The chance to make a fresh start and raise your face to the sun and feel its warmth is what you press toward. Being able to take a deep breath and know that this day you are truly living life after relational abuse. Loving and living today because life is yours.
