Being Real: Relational Abuse Finale + My First Vlog

Throughout this series I’ve tried to be real as much as I was able, by writing about my story through relational abuse.

Sometimes reading someone’s words just isn’t enough. I love to write and I love to read, but sometimes I need to see a face and hear the tones in the words to truly connect and understand what is being said. I know I cannot be alone in these thoughts.

So, to end this series I decided I would let you see me. As close as possible. This is a first for me, I’ve never made a video and I don’t know that you’ll ever want me to again. It seemed like the best way to end this series.

It is my hope and prayer that this series has encouraged, taught and changed you. For the victim, speak out…don’t be silent. For the survivor, share your story…don’t be silent. For everyone else, listen…support…never silence a victim or survivor.

Make a difference. Don’t be silent. Change the world. For our kids. For our futures.

  1. Hello Misty…thanks for this series on a subject that needs continual light shed for victims everywhere are cowering in the darkness needing to be empowered that they can leave, speak up and be healed. I thought your vlog was truly good — simple, real and to the heart. As one who has survived abuse in several forms this topic is close to my heart. Thanks again and blessings to you. PS Love the new site! … And here’s one of the posts on abuse that I have shared: https://longingsend.com/2013/10/23/their-love-helped-save-my-life-day-23-domestic-violence-awareness-in-october/

    • Hi Sheila! I’m so glad that you stopped by! Simple and real is what I am and I believe it was can truly change the world! Blessings and hugs!

  2. Hi Misty, Stopping in from Titus 2sDay. I agree 100%. What a great series to empower the voice of people who have been victimized. You don’t have to remain a victim. Bringing Light to everything helps – speak out.

  3. Visiting from #TellHisStory…what a brave thing you’ve done in making a video. 🙂 Sounds like you’ve been brave for a long time. Yay, you!
