While reading the first chapter of the book of John in the early morning hours, I found myself drawn to a small phrase that Jesus posed to two of his disciples.
What seek ye? (John 1:38)
My mind immediately went to thoughts I’ve had for many years. I want to know what your will is for me, Lord? How can I serve you where I am today, Father? What would you have me do today, Jesus?
All great questions, but not the right one.
What seek ye?
In that moment, I realized I wasn’t really answering the question God was speaking to my heart.
What seek ye?
Today, tomorrow and each day thereafter, I know the answer to the question God posed to my heart this morning.
I seek Jesus.
For in seeking Him, He will reveal what His will is for me.
In seeking Him, I will see ways to serve Him today.
While seeking Him, I will come to know what He has in store for me today.
I seek Jesus.
What that looks like today may not be what it looks like tomorrow, but each day, I will rise and seek Him.
I will seek Jesus in my quiet time.
I will seek (and speak!) Jesus in my conversations with others.
I will seek Jesus in my work – both online and in business.
I will seek Jesus in my mind and in my heart.
I will seek Jesus from the moment I rise until I lie down in bed.
You. You are what I seek, Lord. For without you, I am nothing.
