Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the Lord God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.

1 Chronicles 28:20

You Are Expectant

As Christians we have reason to hope, to be expectant and look to the future. There is coming a day when we will leave this world behind and meet the Lord in the sky!

Since we know what is coming and what we’re waiting for, we should be living our lives expectantly. The Bible tells us we don’t know the day nor the hour, but that we should always be watching.

Matthew 24:36 says, “ But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”

Matthew 25:13 states, “ Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”

We have no reason to go through life without joy or a bright future. We were never promised an easy, happy life on earth, in fact we are called to be servants and Jesus warned that as Christians we would be hated.

John 15:18, “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.”

All too often we get caught up in life here on earth and the trials we face. We fail to remember all the things we have to be expectant for.

Our Creator, His Son, a beautiful home where we will spend eternity thanks to an unending love, boundless mercy and limitless grace. These are the very reasons that we must live our lives expectant. Always knowing that the day is coming and watching for it to appear. Waiting only by serving with our hearts and minds focused on Christ and His second coming. While we may not know the day nor the hour, we do indeed know it will come and we live in expectation of that day!

How we choose to live our days and the outlook we take is our choice. We can choose to live expectant or distracted. Our lives and all we “must” do can be our priority or we can look up, long for Christ’s return and live for Him while we live expectantly. When we get caught up in this earthly life we lose the beauty of living expectant. The very joy of God can be found in always looking for our going home to Him.

Do you live life expectant? Are you longing for Christ’s return? Life on earth isn’t the end and we must ensure we’re accomplishing what matters. Are we actively fulfilling the calling God has placed on our lives and sharing Christ with the world around us? When we choose to live life expectantly others will see and learn from us too. What an amazing opportunity to inspire other Christians to live expectant lives! May our expectancy be a witness to others and encourage them to live their lives to show forth an expectancy for Christ!
