Since moving here to Beautiful Ashes, I haven’t written about love or my marriage very much. If you followed my first blog you’ll know it was started as a marriage blog. My desire was to encourage women to be the help meets that God created them to be. While that is still a passion of mine, it isn’t what God has me writing about right now. The truth of my marriage is this…it’s beautifully messy.
You might wonder how I can put those two words together in regards to my marriage, at first glance they don’t fit well together when speaking of love. Yet, it’s true.
My marriage is beautifully messy.
There have been so many struggles throughout the past 9 years and many times when both or one of us thought our marriage was done for good. Thankfully God wasn’t done when we were and by His grace and mercy He saw us through those difficult times.
While it seems the biggest hurdles are behind us, our marriage still is beautifully messy. Our marriage will never be perfect, there are many things that make it actually very difficult at times, things that probably will never change. Our history involves things like divorce, relational abuse, adultery, separation, and being a blended family, just to name a few.
I used to wonder why my marriage had to be so hard, why it wasn’t like my parent’s marriage. While reading Let it Go by Karen Ehman, I found myself shaking my head in agreement as to why I believe my marriage is harder than I expected it to be.
So, while my marriage isn’t simply beautiful, it is beautiful just the same. It’s beautiful the way God knew I needed it to be. God knew that it had to be beautifully messy in order for me to keep needing Him.
Today I’m thrilled to announce that I am part of Darlene‘s launch team, for her new book “Messy Beautiful Love” and right now you can pre-order it and receive over $50 in freebies! I’m blessed to have my book, “Dear Wife: Letters from a Help Meet” as part of this freebie package.
I just started reading the book and I realized how much I love Darlene’s writing and why I do.
She is courageous and beautifully honest.
No matter where you are in your marriage today, you’re sure to be encouraged and inspired to love the beautiful (or beautifully messy) marriage that you have.
I highly recommend that you pre-order your copy of “Messy Beautiful Love” today here.
Love can be messy at times, but as we mature – hopefully the silly women will become the wise woman and visa versa. Thank you for sharing your lovely post with us here at “Tell Me a Story.” https://letmetelluastory.blogspot.com/
Love doesn’t always become non-messy, hopefully we do mature and grow in wisdom, but the struggles we face may still show up along the way. Every marriage is different and past decisions in our lives sometimes affect our entire future. Thanks for hosting Hazel!
