Have you ever stopped to consider the fact that your name is written on Jesus’ heart? That you are so special to Him that He holds you near and dear?

While reading through Exodus this month with Courtney, Bridget, Mandy, Rosilind as part of the Good Morning Girls, I have been touched by the pictures of God and Christ I’ve found in the instructions God has been giving the Israelites.
Today in Exodus 28 I found such a beautiful picture of God’s love, grace and mercy to us through His Son, Jesus.

Aaron and his sons used to have to carry the names of the Israelites on their hearts in memory and for judgment before the Lord. The weight of such a responsibility would have been unimaginable at times and God knew that man could not atone for their own sins. When Jesus died upon the cross He took on this responsibility, so no man is required to carry this weight any longer. Through Jesus’ death we are offered the gift of salvation and God also removed the weight of our sins and placed them upon His Son, Jesus Christ! He now carries our names and our sins upon Himself!
Amazing love! How can it be,
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
We must never forget this amazing picture of God’s love, mercy and grace! That He took away the weight we are unable to bear and placed it upon His own Son, how humbling this is to me! What love Jesus has for you and me that He died upon that tree!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus, vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me, is the current of Thy love
Leading onward, leading homeward to Thy glorious rest above!
As I continue to dig into God’s word, I’m amazed to find the innumerable ways that God shows us Himself through the Old Testament. Sometimes it can seem difficult to find things that apply to our lives today from Exodus. We must take time to seek the Lord in prayer and apply ourselves to studying the day’s scripture, then God will reveal the application for our lives today no matter where we are in His word or our lives. We must wait on Him to reveal Himself to us through each and every day, God’s timing and ways are not our own.
