So often throughout our lives we feel incomplete, like something is missing. Usually this is due to our own unrealistic expectations of ourselves. If we aren’t able to do everything, then we assume that we’re missing something. What we fail to see is that we are incomplete in and of ourselves. Only when we look to Christ and life in Him will we find ourselves complete.
When we try to live our lives without God’s wisdom or help, we will find ourselves feeling incomplete and alone. This is normal because God did not design us to live our lives separate from Him, God’s plan is that we would follow Him throughout all the days of our lives. We must realize that it is during the times in our lives when we walk with Christ that we feel complete.
How Are We Complete in Christ?
According to Colossians 2:10-13…
…ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses…
and Romans 6:4…
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
We’re Called to Be Different
We are called to be different from the world, just as Christ did when He was on earth as a man. He lived as a man, but throughout His earthly life Jesus walked with God. Christ stayed away from the things of the earth in order to fulfill His Father’s plan for Him. Often we forget that even though Christ was perfect and without sin, He still endured the temptations that we do. (Heb. 4:15)
We’re Called to Bury the Things We Used to Do
Who we were before Christ is under the blood. Christ’s death on the cross though long before we were born covered all the sins anyone would ever commit. When we accept Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, who we once were and things we once did are forgiven and forgotten. (Ps. 103:12) Upon accepting Christ as our Savior we are made new, the old things are to be forgotten. (2 Cor. 5:17) Our old self and sins are buried with Christ, which is where He conquered sin and the grave!
We’re Called to Walk a New Life
Our lives in Christ have been made new, so we must leave behind the things that were before and press on in the new life He has given us! When we choose to walk in this new life, we are choosing to live a life complete in Christ! The things of the world are no longer to be our desire or focus, our eyes need to be on the Lord and His calling on our lives. Only when we choose to walk with Christ will be complete in Him!
Are you feeling incomplete? Do you struggle thinking that you’re not capable of doing anything right? Stop trying to do things by yourself, look to Christ for direction and strength. Remember, in Christ alone are we complete!

It is so easy to get discouraged and feel empty. What a great reminder that in Christ we are complete.
Yes it is, thank God that we are complete in Christ!
Thanks Misty. This is such an encouraging post.
