You Are Justified

Studying who and what we are in Christ has been a blessing to me and many others that have commented on the posts along the way. What wonderful gifts God has given us through Christ, so far we’ve seen that we are adoptedbelovedcomplete, His daughter, enoughforgivengiftedheld and imperfect. Today we’re covering a word that isn’t used very often anymore, so I want to share at the definition before I shared my thoughts on justified.

What Does Justified Mean?

JUST’IFYverb transitive [Latin justus, just, and facio, to make.] to pardon and clear form guilt; to absolve or acquit from guilt and merited punishment, and to accept as righteous on account of the merits of the Savior, or by the application of Christ’s atonement to the offender.

justified

Through Jesus’ death on the cross, the gift of salvation God provided through it, His grace and our belief in these things, we have been justified. We are clear from guilt…we have been pardoned. God has chosen to accept us as righteous because Jesus’ blood covers our sins.

Romans 5:1 says,Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Titus 3:7 tells us, “That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

1 Corinthians 6:11 states, “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

Galatians 2:16, says “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

What Does It Mean to be Justified?

It means that the guilt that we often wears us down needs to be laid at Jesus’ feet. Your past needs to be handed over the Lord and left there. Each and every sin that you’ve committed is covered by the blood of your Savior, Jesus Christ. Your sins are as far as the east is from the west. (Psalm 103:12) His love for you is amazing and all encompassing.

As I continue to study God’s word and see all the things that I am and have in Christ, I am continually amazed at the depth of His love for me and all of His sons and daughters. That I would be faithful and true to God and His word, sharing His love and gift of salvation with all that I am able is my heart’s desire. If you’re like me and you struggle with your past, the bad choices that fill it, may I remind you that God’s grace is sufficient for all of it. (2 Cor. 12:9) His love, grace, complete forgiveness and gift of salvation are all that you’ll ever need. Nothing you could do can take you away from Him. He has engraved your name on the palm of His hands. (Isa. 49:16) You are His. (Isa. 43:1)
