God never said that life on earth would be easy, yet we are not called to live defeated, stressed or worried. God gives us the opportunity to have our fears, struggles and difficulties quieted. However, we must do something to receive this quietness.
Being Quieted Requires Letting Go
As children of God we are told to case our cares down. The beauty of this act of casting down is that God then gives us a gift. We find that our fears and struggles are quieted by the peace He places in our hearts and minds.
1 Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
Letting go is not easy to do because it requires us to release control and leave things in someone else’s hands. Wanting to be in control is a typical human desire, one that is not easily given up. However, knowing that God wants what’s best for you and that He offers a quieted spirit after you cast things down are wonderful truths for us to hold onto throughout the letting go process.
1 Corinthians 2:9 states, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Philippians 4:7 says, “…the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Matthew 11:28-29 states, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
Living a Quieted Life
If you were to ask anyone if they would like to live a quieted life, free from stress and fear, they would answer with a resounding yes. We as Christians have access to a quieted life and we need to ensure we’re not only taking advantage of this gift from God, but we need to share it also.
A quieted life does not mean a perfect life, it simply means that with every change of the wind, direction or situation we cast down our cares, knowing God has everything under control…nothing messes up His perfect plan.
This life…a quieted life is one we all truly need to live. We would not often lose our way, waste time in our days, or say things we’d wished we hadn’t said. A quieted life is found in those whose full dependence is on God and it is visible in both their face and the words they speak.
May our lives be more quieted as we strive each day to cast down…accepting the gifts that await us at God’s feet.
Never forget that in Christ you are adopted, beloved, complete, His daughter, enough, forgiven, gifted, held, justified, kept, loved, molded, new, owned and precious!
I think being able to be quiet sometimes is the ultimate act of faith! 🙂

This is the second post that I read today with similar message about quieting our spirit. I wrote about it yesterday. I love these thoughts. Thank you.
🙂 It is something we long for so much, but struggle to find though the answer is often right in front of us. Blessings Judith 🙂
